- Une visite guidée en anglais
Vivian Maier was an American photographer born in New York City in 1926. Her mother was French, so Vivian spent some time in France as a child. Vivian Maier worked as a nanny for many years. She never married and she died at the age of 83, in 2009. Vivian Maier probably discovered photography thanks to a friend of her grandmother’s. Her main interest was street photography : she enjoyed taking photos of the city, of strangers, of their hands and feet. She also sometimes removed people’s heads in her photos, it was a sort of game for her ! She took pictures of rich people, but we think she preferred the poor.
The photo I loved best in the exhibition was taken in NY in 1959 and it is called : East 108th Street. In the background, we can see a skyscraper. In the foreground, we can see people walking and talking in the street. I really like this picture because I am a fan of black and white pictures. I also like it because it shows people’s lives and emotions. It seems that time stopped, and all the details of the past are visible. I think Vivian wanted us to see them ! I liked the whole exhibition dedicated to Vivian Maier, but this photo is my favorite ! I encourage you to go see this exhibition because it’s so amazing ! I hope you will like the pictures, as much as I liked them !
